Discography
Welcome
to the Discography pages of JARRE UK.
In homage to Commander Jacques Cousteau, Jean Michel Jarre travelled to
Trinidad to start work on this album, along with the Amoco Renegades -
who play the very distinctive steel drums throughout this album.
The album was released on the same day as the Paris La Defense concert,
with the album being a nod towards nature and a plea towards environmental
protection.
The first three tracks are named after the boat owned by Jacques Cousteau,
called 'Calypso', and the last track on the album - Waiting For Cousteau
- has to be Jean Michel Jarre's longest piece of music so far, coming
in at around 47 minutes long. Although on the cassette version of the
album, the track was edited down to around 22 minutes.
On a final note, the album title was originally intended to be called
'Cousteau on the Beach' but was changed at the last minute, and there
are some pre-release promo's floating around that actually carry the title
on cover and the CD print.
