Discography
Welcome
to the Discography pages of JARRE UK.
After his previous studio album Oxygene 7-13, Jean Michel Jarre decided
to start afresh with a new chapter by taking a different direction with
his music via the use of vocals. But unlike his previous ventures into
the use of vocals with albums such as Zoolook and Revolutions, this time
around they are used more frequently and are used in a way that creates
an album that is more more modern.
Jean Michel also decided to move away from his usual process of composition
with analogue and digital synthesizers, and used a minimal kit list instead
- primarily comprising of Pro Tools and a few keyboards.
Jarre was mainly surrounded by female artists (with the exception of Tout
Est Bleu), with each artist each bringing their own personality, origin
or vocal stamp to the relevant tracks - even Jean Michel Jarre himself
adds his own voice to some of the tracks too!
Although this album feels as if it is a radical departure from Jarre's
previous style of music, it is in actual fact no different to previous
experimental outings of previous years, and could be more likened to Zoolook
in how it is portrayed.
Most fans though are on a half way mark about this album, with some liking
it and some not, but at the end of the day, everyone still has to admit
that this has been Jean Michel Jarre's most experimental album to date
as he has taken a risk by straying away from his usual landscape style
of composing and moved into the mainstream with a more sequenced style
of approach.
On a final note, this is the first album Jean Michel Jarre has not collaborated
with Michel Geiss (for whatever reason may be) and has teamed up this
time with French company Square Prod, with Joachim Garraud producing the
album alongside Jarre.
