JUNE
28TH: Last
week, Francis Rimbert performed two 90 Minutes FREE Outdoor Concerts,
his first-ever Outdoor Concert, for the Summer Solstice, in Suresnes,
on June 21st 2007, and his second-ever Outdoor Concert, for 26th Fête
De La Musique Festival in Croissy-Sur-Seine, on June 23rd 2007.
JARRE UK was fortunate to be able to attend both of these Concerts near
Paris, and also Francis Rimbert's Fan Meeting at the Buffalo Grill Hotel
& Restaurant in Port-Marly. JARRE UK's diary of these events is as
follows:-
Thursday 21st June 2007: Francis Rimbert's first-ever Outdoor Concert,
for the Summer Solstice, was located at Plateau Nord, Place Marcel Legras,
in Suresnes, a suburb of Paris, which was attended by Fans from all over
Europe, including The Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden, and the UK,
aswell as attended by a multitude of local people, from children to adults.
Francis Rimbert's Concert was preceded by a 30 Minutes performance by
the French Rock Guitarist & Painter, LOL (www.myspace.com/lolrocklive),
accompanied by his Rock Live Band, which included a Bass Guitarist and
Percussionist, who performed a handful of tracks, including 'LE SILENCE'.
Immediately after LOL's performance, Francis Rimbert and his Musicians
entered the stage, and his first-ever Outdoor Concert then began, opening
up with 'DAWN OF LIGHT', an energetic and symphonic NEW Track from his
forthcoming NEW Album 'SNAP SHOTS', which included the use of the Mellotron,
and stunning operatic vocals by French Vocalist Angy Todaro.
Highlights of the Concert included an Acoustic Version of 'WHAT IS LOVE',
featuring Victor Paillet on Acoustic Guitar and Clément Gouriou
on Drums and an impromptu power-failure, and NEW Tracks, 'MEMORY OF LOVE',
a Track featuring vocals by Angy Todaro and Lina Panova, 'SOMEWHERE IN
JULY', a Chillout Track with a Saxophone lead, 'VIVA LA REVOLUCION', a
fun and uplifting Track, and 'VICTORY', an energetic Track featuring Bells,
'NUTROCKERS', a fun duet with Sylvain Durand on Electric Piano, and the
most atmospheric Track of the entire Concert, 'APOCALYPSE', a moving duet
with LOL on Electric Guitar. The Official Tracklisting was as follows:-
[01] DAWN OF LIGHT (Featuring
Angy Todaro)
[02] ELFE'S RACE
[03] MEMORY OF LOVE (Featuring Angy Todaro)
[04] GAELICK
[05] WOODOO
[06] ACROSS THE FOG
[07] SOMEWHERE IN JULY
[08] FRENCH KISS
[09] DEVIL SOUL
[10] VIVA LA REVOLUCION
[11] WHAT IS LOVE (Featuring Victor Paillet &
Clément Gouriou)
[12] VICTORY
[13] WOMEN'S LAND
[14] NUTROCKERS (Featuring Sylvain Durand)
[15] APOCALYPSE (Featuring LOL)
[16] MECANIQUE DU TEMPS (Featuring LOL)
[17] THE DREAM IS OVER (Featuring Angy Todaro)
[18] RADIO BIERE FOOT
Francis Rimbert's Concert ended with 'THE DREAM IS OVER', the first-ever
Single from Angy Todaro, a moving ballad, that is as yet still unreleased,
and concluded with an encore of the NEW Track 'RADIO BIERE FOOT', an energetic
and lively Track, inspired by a Football Match...FANTASTIC!!! :)
Friday 22nd June 2007: Francis Rimbert's Fan Meeting was located
at the Buffalo Grill Hotel & Restaurant, Rue Simon-Vouet, Port-Marly,
near Paris, which was attended by a small number of Fans, and the French
Musician Michel Geiss. At this 3 Hours Fan Meeting, Francis Rimbert discussed
with Fans the Suresnes Concert, and explained that he had decided to remove
3 Tracks from the planned Tracklist for the Croissy-Sur-Seine Concert,
as he felt their slow tempo did not meet the tempo he wanted at the Concert.
Saturday 23rd June 2007: Francis Rimbert's second Outdoor Concert,
for the 26th Fête De La Musique Festival, was located on a large
stage at the end of Boulevard Ferdinand Hostachy, in Croissy-Sur-Seine,
a suburb of Paris, which was attended by a much larger audience of local
people, as this location was the main thoroughfare in Croissy-Sur-Seine,
full of bars and restaurants, with many food stalls, tables and benches,
all laid out in the street for the audience, which again ranged from children
to adults.
Before Francis Rimbert's Concert, many local musicians were performing
throughout the evening, to a very enthusiastic and noisy audience, which
created a much more livelier atmosphere than the atmosphere had been in
Suresnes, infact, it did feel that that Concert was just a dress rehearsal
for this Concert, as it was on a very different scale, a much bigger event.
Francis Rimbert's Concert was a lot more visual than his previous Concert
in Suresnes, greatly helped by a much larger, higher and covered stage,
better sound and much improved lighting, and Francis Rimbert's decision
to remove 3 Tracks from the Tracklist indeed proved a very wise decision,
despite many Fans disagreeing with his decision during the Fan Meeting.
Despite previously reporting that Sylvain Durand would not be attending
the Croissy-Sur-Seine Concert, at the last minute, his plans changed,
and therefore he was able to participate with Francis Rimbert's Concert,
which meant that the NEW Track 'NUTROCKERS', a Track written especially
as a duet for Francis Rimbert and Sylvain Durand, did not have to be dropped.
The Official Tracklisting of the Croissy-Sur-Seine Concert was as follows:-
[01] DAWN OF LIGHT (Featuring
Angy Todaro)
[02] ELFE'S RACE
[03] MEMORY OF LOVE (Featuring Angy Todaro)
[04] GAELICK
[05] WOODOO
[06] DEVIL SOUL
[07] VIVA LA REVOLUCION
[08] WHAT IS LOVE (Featuring Victor Paillet &
Clément Gouriou)
[09] VICTORY
[10] WOMEN'S LAND
[11] NUTROCKERS (Featuring Sylvain Durand)
[12] APOCALYPSE (Featuring LOL)
[13] MECANIQUE DU TEMPS (Featuring LOL)
[14] THE DREAM IS OVER (Featuring Angy Todaro)
[15] RADIO BIERE FOOT

FRANCIS RIMBERT:
PERSONAL MESSAGE FOR FANS
JUNE
8TH: Francis
Rimbert has contacted JARRE UK this week, to provide a personal message
for his Fans, ahead of his first ever Outdoor Concerts for the Summer
Solstice in Suresnes, Paris, on June 21st, and for the 26th Fête
De La Musique Festival in Croissy-Sur-Seine, Paris on June 23rd:-
"Dear friends, some very fresh news directly from my studio. I'm
working very hard on my forthcoming album 'SNAP SHOTS' and concerts, it
takes the most important part of my time, influencing each other.
The main direction of my new album is all these things, feelings, moods
which come across the mind of a musician in 24 hours. A simple day can
lead you to laugh, smile, or it can make you feel rebelled, touched or
tender. The way you use a memo, I used my keyboards to describe my feelings,
my emotions. So, I composed some tracks with different moods depending
on the image I kept printed in my mind.
This way of composing enabled a kind of freedom, no need to stick with
a particular style, offering a voyage from simple melodies like an unplugged
guitar/voice for example, and in another hand to travel towards Rock 'N'
Roll Opera's tracks.
I drew from my own personal instruments the sounds which served my
inspiration. My Roland Fantom X8 was the 'book' of my first ideas thrown
quickly on its internal sequencer. Then I used my other keyboards, Ensonic
TS12, Yamaha AN1X, Sequential Circuit Pro One, Roland JD800, Mellotron,
Korg MS20, EMU XL7, Roland MC808, Roland VX and Roland S760.
During
my last chat with a very best friend of mine, Dunkie, we evoked our mutual
interest for the so specific sounds of the Mellotron, and I promised to
used them. So thanks to him you will discover some tracks with this so
particular sound (immortalized in The Moody Blues' 'Nights In White Satin'
and King Crimson's 'The Court Of The Crimson King').
The voice is also an instrument I wanted to use through samples drawn
from my personal collection, but I recorded some during friendly or professional
meetings aswell. Infact, I often have with me a small DAT recorder which
enables me to randomly seize sounds of a day. I also required of my friends
Angie and Lina (Panova) to take part in certain sessions.
My very next live performances on stage have directed me aswell to some
new orchestrations, in order, for instance to give the possibility for
a percussionist to express himself freely. Technically the recording was
done with Pro Tools and the recording of my synths have been made in my
studio through the Limiter-Compressor Universal Studio in order to always
keep an excellent dynamics. My partner, Patrick Pelamourgues, was in charge
of the mixing and didn't hesitate to often work over again 'balances'
according to my desires and my doubts.
During my concerts in June, I will perform first on stage some new titles
of 'SNAP SHOTS', then I will finalise my album this summer. For these
concerts I called upon several musicians, and rehearsals began in the
studio belonging to my friend Christophe Giraudon in Croissy. Certain
titles were composed especially and are not reproduced on 'DOUBLE FACE'
or 'SNAP SHOTS'. I cannot tell you more for the moment...my keyboards
claim me!
See you soon,
Francis Rimbert"
