LATEST INFORMATION
ON DENMARK CONCERT
OCTOBER
25TH: As
previously reported on Jarre.net
a couple of days ago, the next Jean Michel Jarre concert currently being
planned to be held next year in Denmark is starting to sound very interesting.
As stated in a danish article (found here
with a translation found here)
the visual concept idea of the show sounds excellent...
- a video wall of approx 45 metres in height, entireley constructed out
of smaller monitors
- lights and projections on the 15 windmills
- 4 projection screens in the shape of kites
- All 15 windmills to produce the electricity needed to run the concert
- Danish movie director Lars von Trier to create a video for the show
It was also stated there now looks as if there will be 2 concerts, with
both being held in the first half of September next year, also with possibly
an extra 10,000 people per concert over the original estimated 50,000
for one concert - making that a total of approx 120,000 over the 2 concerts
that will witness the performances.
Also it seems that the Department of Forgeign Affairs are wanting to encourage
Danish school children to create drawings based on Wind, New Energies
(such as the windmills) and the Future - which, for example, is simliar
in idea to the drawings created for Concert For Tolerance in 1995.
And also, the concerts were originally speculated as being a showcase
for Jean Michel's new album, but it now seems that only one new song will
be composed for the concert (like Akropolis) and no other new material
will be performed. This is probably due to the fact that Jean Michel and
his team have not even begun work on the new album as of yet, and wont
do so until at least some point next year (they are currently researching
ideas at the moment) which would mean that the album would not see a release
date until some point in the first half of 2003.
Please bare in mind though that only 1/3 of the initial funding for this
concert has been raised so far, and so could still NOT go ahead, and the
above information is only speculative, and not 100% definate as of yet!
Special thanks to Nathalie Gallois for clarification on
the above information.
